Hey,hey - another VMS user out there!

I've been able to force the data type to ASCIII if I use a "site" that I've set up in the WS_FTP Pro Utility. Under the startup for the site, there is an option button for startup transfer mode - choose ASCII.  And then, in your script, use:

CONNECT MySites!xxx

Where xxx is the name of the connection that you have set up in WS_FTP Pro.  If you use spaces, then use quotes around your site name.  Also, you don't bother with the login & password when you use this feature.

Hope this helps! - LBF

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] WSFTP Pro Scripting

Hi,

Has anyone been able to work out how to force the data type to ASCII or Bin when using the scripting feature of WSFTP Pro ?

Even if I insert "Type ASCII" prior to the GET or MGET command, it still reverts back to Image for the transfer.

Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem but I'm trying to pull files from a VMS Ftp server that has ";1", ";2" , etc after each file name and during a scripted download it leaves the trailing characters intact.

When completing a manual download via the GUI, it removes these characters without any user involvement.

If I create a batch file using standard FTP commands and the launch, it also downloads the correct filenames like the GUI method.

It is only while using WSFTP scripting that I have the problem.

Any ideas ?

Cheers,
