There's always option #3: a free FTP over SSL command line client called MOVEit Freely (http://www.stdnet.com/moveitfreely) which takes almost the same syntax as the Microsoft ftp.exe client, but also does things like passive mode and different ports.
Anyway, that's what I use...WS-FTP for manual GUI transfers and MOVEit Freely for my automated and end-user "just click the icon" FTP transfers.

I wrote the following to support also, but thought other users could
possibly offer their insights.
Is it considered better to use ftpscrpt or wsftppro when creating a batch
file to run various ftp transfers from a command line. I currently use
ftpscrpt to access scripts I built but after looking at the documentation I
am confused how that compares to possibly using transfers straight from a
batch file, without using script files??? What major pro & con does each
have, as to when each is better for what situations?
