Pete,
Thanks for your message.

We add the link which has the FTP URL on our html page. Ideally, once a web
user clicks the link on the web, the ws_ftp will be opened directly via the
internet browser.

We do not know which directory the client installed the ws_ftp on his/her
local machine. We can only suggest the client to have the ws_ftp installed
if we find the ws_ftp can work with our web function needed.

Thanks again for your response.

Kathy

Explorer

Are you doing this from a command prompt or from "start-run"? If so,
instead of just using the URL "ftp://xxxx"; pre-pend the path to the ws_ftp
executable. This will open ws_ftp pro directly and avoid the Internet
Explorer issues you are encountering.

For example,

"C:\Program Files\WS_FTP Pro\wsftppro.exe"
ftp://userid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/foldername/subfoldername

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] FTP URL - how to use ws_ftp with Internet
Explorer

I need your help on how to use ws_ftp with Internet Explorer 5.0 above.

URL I am using to open the ws_ftp 8.0 is
"ftp://userid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/foldername/subfoldername"
Then I get an pop up dialog box of "WS_FTP Pro File Download", then another
pop up dialog box shows right after the first one, which is saying "The
specified URL appears to be a directory not file, Would you like to start
WS_FTP Pro to view the directory?".
After I click "yes", then I get the WS_FTP Pro window that is what I need.

What is the correct FTP URL I should use, so that I could avoid these two
massage dialog boxes and have WS_FTP pro window right after I click the
URL? We are evaluating the FTP software now. The feature I mentioned here
is very important for us. We do not want these annoying boxes pup up each
time when the users click the link on our site. The link is used for users
to upload their files to our FTP server.

Thanks for your help.

Kathy
