Hi there I have downloaded an evaluation copy of WS_FTP Pro 8.02T with a view to recommending it to my customers who are increasingly requesting secure FTP.
I am running ftp server wu_ftpd 2.8.0 on linux kernel 2.4.22. I am using explicit SSL (AUTH SSL) on port 21. The connection works fine and is logged thus on the server: diva ftpd[12101]: TLS connection using cipher EXP-EDH-RSA-DES-CBC-SHA (40 bits) Problem however is that the directory listing is being truncated after 1036 bytes: 150 Opening ASCII mode secure data connection for directory listing. transferred 1036 bytes in < 0.001 seconds, 8093.750 Kbps ( 1011.719 Kbps), transfer succeeded. 226 Transfer complete. If I press the DirInfo button I get: total 26288 drwxr-xr-x 43 500 500 4096 Nov 27 18:24 . drwxr-xr-x 43 500 500 4096 Nov 27 18:24 .. drwx------ 2 500 500 4096 Aug 15 2003 .AbiSuite lrwxrwxrwx 1 500 500 47 Nov 27 10:06 .DCOPserver_diva.localdomain -> /home/john/.DCOPserver_diva.localdomain_janus:0 -rw-rw-r-- 1 500 500 48 Nov 27 10:06 .DCOPserver_diva.localdomain_janus:0 -rw------- 1 500 500 32 Nov 27 10:06 .MCOP-random-seed -rw------- 1 500 500 398 Nov 27 12:06 .Xauthority drwxr-xr-x 2 500 500 4096 Aug 13 2003 .acrobat drwx------ 2 500 500 4096 Sep 18 14:56 .adobe -rw------- 1 500 500 22390 Nov 27 10:43 .bash_history -rw-r--r-- 1 500 500 24 Aug 6 2003 .bash_logout -rw-r--r-- 1 500 500 225 Sep 3 2003 .bash_profile -rw-r--r-- 1 500 500 167 Sep 11 2003 .bashrc -rw-rw-r-- 1 500 500 481 Aug 18 2003 .calendar -r which you can see has indeed been truncated. As a result, in addition to most files not being listed at all in the list pane proper, there is a spurious listing of a file "-r"! If I set up an identical profile i.e. to the same server with same user account etc but using a plain non-SSL connection, everything works fine: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for directory listing. transferred 6751 bytes in < 0.001 seconds, 52742.188 Kbps ( 6592.773 Kbps), transfer succeeded. 226 Transfer complete i.e. the full 6751 bytes of the directory listing have been captured. Ditto, DirInfo is full and correct and all files and directories are displayed correctly in the list pane proper. OTOH, I can get and put large Mb sized files over the SSL connection without any problems! The problem seems to be restricted to the directory listing over an SSL connection. Needless to say, this problem is a showstopper since if you can't see files in the directory listing, you can't "get" them! Any advice will be appreciated.
