Hi Mary Lou,

I had a somewhat similar problem sftp'ing to RedHat Linux system.

Can you ssh to one of those accounts? If so, does it have any login
messages that are different/extra compared to when you login to another
account?

I found that by removing/commenting the login messages (they are in one of
your "dot" files - files that start with . in the login directory), then it
worked okay. I didn't question it at the time, I just was glad that it
worked.

David

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] FTP PRO V8.0 sftp/ssh server type using port 22
connection error

Folks,

I recently bought some licenses for FTP PRO V8.0 to use as secure ftp
connection. We have a file system and a set of directories on AIX unix
that are defined a certain way to prevent each user from seeing each other's
directory.
When trying to use FTP PRO v8.0 to signon using the owners of the
directories
(vendor1,2,3) and server type sftp/ssh I receive the error as seen on the
ftp log below. I can
use FTP PRO V8.0 with the userid psoft which is in the same group as the
users vendor1,2,3
with the sftp/ssh server type and I can get to the vendor1,2,3 directories.
I can change server type to ftp and the vendor1,2,3 userid's will work but
that defeats
the whole purpose of the secure connection and why I bought ftp PRO v8.0.
I can use FTP PROp V8.0 with any other userid and directories and the server
type
sftp/ssh and everything works fine. I cannot find an explanation of the
error "830c0000 initializing sftp protocol" anywhere on the ipswitch website
knowledge docs.
What am I missing.

                                                                Thank you in advance
for any help,

                                                                Mary Lou Sevigny
