since moving to broadband from dial up i have noticed a new problem with ftp
One job we have to do is to upload say 100 2kb files to a server. Problem is it seems to have a problem doing this. Seems to start okay but then slows down and eventually seems to loose the connection and give up I tried a few bits of software and ftp pro reported 426 Data Connection: Bad file descriptor. another one swiftly logged back in again and continued the updload. Also it seemed to be using multi threading which improved speed greatly Thing is the way we do the upload uses a basic dos command and a script file (tcl) to pick files and ftp them. We cant really use a third party piece of software to do the ftp... My suspicions are currently a config problem in the firewall - which is managed by our ISP ... tests have shown its not the server Im sending to thats the problem, its getting outside of our network (ftp internally zooms across happily) any thoughts on how I fix this problem I am currently running Win NT 4 workstations Sue Data Design www.datadesign.co.uk www.textravaganza.com Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
