It
sounds like you want Ultraedit from Ipswitch Software (www.ultraedit.com). You start the editor,
click Open From FTP, edit the file, and finish with close or save. File stays on
the server. Can't beat the price and the functionality.

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] Can FTP Pro work like Windows Explorer
Hi all,
I have a (hopefully) simple question on ftp client software.
I need an FTP client that lets me open, edit and save files back to the FTP in one go, just like if you ran it locally.
I've set up FTP (WS FTP server) access to our fileserver for remote staff but you know how hopeless end users are. I cant expect them to download file, edit as they wish and then have them upload it.

The process is far
to long for them.
From what I've found the closest is Cute FTP client. It lets you run the file over the FTP connection. It does this in the background downloading the file to a temp directly and running it from there. But if you try and save the file it points back to the local folder. Its half way there.

I wonder if WS FTP Pro could do the whole thing. I see
that there is an SDK available so does anyone know if this has been
created.
So in short I need a FTP client that behaves like Windows Explorer folders, it opens files and saves files with out appearing to download them and the hassle of uploading them.
I hope you get what I mean.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Thanks,
Brenden
