That's funny -- I've never seen it where a file was not converted within ASCII mode. Are you absolutely sure your text files on Unix are not bad. I.E., perhaps you have CR/LF/LF or something within it that only part of the newline is being converted.
I normally see this problem when folks incorrectly download something from Unix Binary (or the file is created incorrectly on Unix) and then when someone FTPs again to another system, they send it as ASCII, which totally messes up the file. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Vicki Jordan Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2004 7:58 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] How to force file format translation to Unix Scenario: Text file extracts are being created from a Unix system (via Oracle Reports) and saved on an nfs share that is mounted from a Windows system running Windows Services for Unix. The FTP server is IIS. The file is picked up using ftp from the Windows system and even setting the type to ascii retains the Unix NewLine instead of NewLine/CR needed by the Windows system. IE - we need to get an ftp client to get files from a Windows server but treat them as if they were coming from an Unix server. Does anyone know of a quick and easy way to force the translation from Unix to Windows format? Typing "acsii" doesn't do it. We have looked at unix2dos on the Unix side (unworkable) and flip on the Windows side (again unworkable). We would like this to be automatic. I thought that configuring the wsftp session as Unix would overcome the problem but it is too clever and recognises the system as Windows - and therefore does not do the translation!
