Steven (or Jim) I can't really tell... FYI :: I've been monitoring this list for over 6 months and have only seen about 6 emails go over it
Anyway, just curious about this scenario, you said you tried logging in manually with a gui based client, right? Does it have a log that you can see how it interprets the files names with spaces? Have you tried logging in manually from a command line either with wsftp or plain ole FTP, windows or *nix ? Does that work for you? If so, surely you can script those steps, eh? So I registered and posted a problem I'm having with a WS_FTP Pro script. If there's a better way to address this email forum, please let me know and I'll follow proper protocol/methodology. Below is the forum message I posted: I'm using WS_FTP Pro, version 8.0.2003.05.23. I get repeated error messages attempting to downloaded a file via a script I wrote. If you don't want to ready through the script or log file, please see see below them for the testing I've done, which I stronly suspect cuts to the heart of the matter. Here's the script, (names changed for security reasons): TRACE c:\Program Files\Whatever\TraceGet.txt log c:\Program Files\Whatever\TraceGet.log connect "MySites!Whereever!BAI" get "FILE NAME WITH BLANK SPACES" " c:\Program Files\Whatever\Whatever.pgp" close Here's the resulting log file: Log Opened 8/7/2006 at 9:20:42 AM Finding Host whereever.whatever.com ... Connection closed. Ready for next connection. I've tried a number of variations of the "get" command in the above script, including directly referencing the entire path, (although loging in with the above profile places me at the proper folder and should only require the file name). I've also used/not used quotes, due to the file name having blanks in it (nothing we can do at our end about this), all with same results. PLEASE NOTE AS THE FOLLOWING IS VERY TELLING! I've tried logging in directly using the same profile I reference in my script. Here's what I've found: Login works fine, placing me in the correct path folder by default. If I highlight the file name and click on the green arrow, VOILA!, the file gets transferred to my local hard drive. BUT, when I don't highlight the file and click on the green arrow, and get a screen prompting me to type in the file name I want to download, it FAILS! Checked several times to make sure I'm typing the file name correctly, tried with and without quotes, etc, just as I mentioned I tried in the above script, etc, with same results. Not being familiar with the configuration of the server, I had to change the FTP directory in the Server Manager General Settings window to a new drive letter and new subdirectory, let's call it "F:\foo\bar" for purposes of discussion. This directory will be used by up to four different users that will be sending log files from a few Linux servers. The Linux users are "linuxuser01" and "linuxuser02" for purposes of discussion, and these users were added during the initial WS_FTP Server installation. Now, my questions: 1. How to specify the "F:\foo\bar" directory from the command line on the Linux machine? Not sure how "ftp" can be told to interpret "F:\foo\bar" on the remote server, since we're required to use F: as the FTP target drive. 2. Where would the id_dsa.pub file (generated by ssh-keygen on Linux) be placed or loaded on to WS_FTP Server to support passwordless logins from "sftp" on Linux or Unix clients?
