I've been using the Synchronize Utility along with the Scheduler Utility to
automate daily transfers of files. Now, the owners of the FTP site I'm
connecting to is putting that FTP site on a VPN. I'm trying to figure out
how to add the VPN connect and disconnect to my utilites so we don't have to
do anything manually for each file transfer. I have installed the VPN
client on my machine.
I was hoping that I could simply use the CTL file created by the synchronize
utility and add the VPN connect command at the beginning of the file and the
VPN disconnect command at the end. But, when I look at the CTL file (thru
Notepad), I see that it doesn't include the commands to connect to the FTP
site - it just appears to have the commands for the file transfer. So, at
the point that this file is executed, it must already be connected to the
FTP site.
I guess I'm going to have to use the Scripting utility. Does anyone know
how to take the commands in the CTL file and add the VPN connect, FTP
connect and corresponding disconnect commands so the script will do
everything I need it to do?
