As Cameron mentioned, last night was the first Melbourne WSG meeting. We had 12 people attend which as great - especially considering we accidentally chose a public holiday.
It was a great night with lots of lively discussion and debate. As Cameron said, it is so much better talking about topics with other developers face to face. For Peter and I, it was a good opportunity to meet some members and put faces to email addresses. A big thanks to John Allsopp for being our guest presenter (and stirring up much debate in the process), Andrew Fernandez (http://dezwozhere.com/blog/) for setting up the room, organising food etc, and David MacDonald (http://www.davidmcdonald.org/) for helping with the organisation. David and Andrew will be the ongoing organisers of Melbourne WSG. The Melbourne group has decided to meet every 8 weeks, and have already lined up presenters for the next three meetings. The agenda so far is: 3 May 2004 David MacDonald will discuss how he and his team made BHP Billiton Standards Compliant (http://www.bhpbilliton.com) 28 June 2004 Cameron Adams (http://www.themaninblue.com/) will discuss his personal site "The Man in Blue" - and how it was built to standards compliance. 23 August 2004 Woric Faithfull (http://woric.net/) will discuss XSLT, XML and content management - focussing on web standards. So, as always, let Peter or I know off-list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) if you want to set up a meetings inc your city and we will do what we can to help.
