In a few threads here it's been mentioned there are three types of stylesheets:
1. User
2. Author
3. Browser
If you are interested in the third one then you should delve into the /res/ directory of Firefox to have a look at how the default rendering style is set up for that browser (and I assume other Gecko derivatives).
I haven't found the default stylesheet for IE - that would be a good one to find and override, I'd guess it's locked up in a binary somewhere?
