Hello all,

I work for a small non-profit, and I'm taking over our web stuff. My first
web task was making sense of a mess of code left us by a briefly hired web
designer. He started us on the CSS path but left us with an
unusable/updatable website. Our "new" site (that I've been working on) looks
almost the same as his, except that I think everyone in the office will be
able to update it now as it just makes more sense under the hood.

We're still checking bugs, and there are several non-bug problems with the
site that we'll be looking at in the next iteration of updates (such as
default font-size--ours is too small, and apparently we shouldn't use serif
type--and even some more basic issues of how we structure the relationship
of different pieces of content.)

However, the main problem I'm having right now is that, for some reason (an
unknown one, to be precise), my CSS isn't applying to our front page. It
works for every single other page in the website, just not the first one.
I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's wrong. The whole site
validates as either XHTML strict or XHTML transitional (only two pages in
transitional, the rest strict), and all the files seem to be in the right
places.

If you all could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong, I would be much
obliged. The URL is
www.testing.grassrootspolicy.org

The stylesheets are at:
http://www.testing.grassrootspolicy.org/styles/frontpage3.css
http://www.testing.grassrootspolicy.org/styles/CURRENT_stylesheet_PIECES/fro
ntpagespecfic.css
http://www.testing.grassrootspolicy.org/styles/CURRENT_stylesheet_PIECES/ele
ments2.css
http://www.testing.grassrootspolicy.org/styles/CURRENT_stylesheet_PIECES/tag
sforall.css
(Yes, I know this is a complicated stylesheet structure--one stylesheet
holding 3 others. I made things this way so that the folks in my office
stand a chance of being able to edit the stylesheets once I'm gone. I wanted
to make very clear what kinds of things the different styles were doing,
where they went, etc. Obviously, this section needs some work.)

Thanks again!

Judith
