I never got into the idea of redirecting browsers to different pages using JS. Using standards to make web pages renders that practice obsolete for the most part since you get a "one page serves all" product in the end.

If I use JS on any pages it is usually to make remembrance cookies on a user's computer or to add some bling to already established content like random images, date counter, etc. I don't feel JS is a reliable technology to use for distributing crucial pieces content, only things that can be considered extra.
