In many ways it is as if they went back to what HTML was meant to be, and improved on that, rather than just the next version. Some useful changes (href on everything, lists and tables in p's, di). Some things will take getting used to (l instead of br, on img). It also looks like we won't need as many div's elements like the section and h, or di give the needed hooks in a more natural, semantic way.
The worst part of all this is it'll be years before we'll be able to use the new toys in any meaningful way.
Here's to waiting for 2010.
