I strongly disagree. Breadcrumbs are most definitely a list of links; they're even normally represented as a horizontal list. A list, according to "The American Heritage� Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition" (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=list) is:


A series of names, words, or other items written, printed, or imagined one after the other: a shopping list; a guest list; a list of things to do.

As far as ordered or unordered goes, whether it shows where you've been or where you are, either is acceptable, though an ordered list is slightly better.

Here's a couple of examples. The first uses borders for the arrows and works in IE6. The second uses generated content.
