if you are using the w3c validator, try the advanced settings and validate against the css3 profile. Which is where your selector comes from, see: http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/CR-css3-selectors-20011113/

The CSS file:
http://wallishamilton.com/code/screen.css
doesn't validate, I get the error

"Combinator *= between selectors is not allowed in this profile or version"
"Combinator ^= between selectors is not allowed in this profile or version"

Is there another way, any pointers would be appreciated.
