G'day

I hear what you're saying.

If and when we get to the point that everybody has cheap, reliable, high
speed access to the web without download limits, the next generation web
might well replace TV and Radio. It might even put cinemas out of business.

I don't see that happening any time soon though and expect that a lot of
people still want to read words (be that on paper or on screen). Why are
people still buying books, magazines and newspapers when we can present that
same information on a website, even now?

Unfortunately, flash etc, which go well on a CD Rom would exclude (at
least, at this point in time) a huge number of users. If I want to see
movies, I watch TV or hire a Video or DVD. If I want to hear music, I
switch on the radio or listen to a CD (or tape, or old-fashioned record).

I use the web to seek information and like many people I can only get
dial-up (or a very expensive satellite connection) where I live. I avoid
sites that use bandwidth-hungry (non text) content (the back button on my
browser is very handy there) because most of the information I seek is fine
as words and pictures (and I am impatient).

Of course, this is just my opinion and I'm sure there are flaws in my
argument :-)

Regards
