Before anyone else decided to comment on a thread that has already been closed, here are a few things you should all know about jobs and closed threads...
1. we asked all members for opinion on job posts to the list in our recent survey. For those who may have forgotten, the results are here: http://webstandardsgroup.org/summary.htm The majority of members (not by a great margin, admittedly) thought that posts should only be made to a specialised WSG jobs list. 2. The core group discussed options for job posts at length, and eventually came up with a compromise that we felt all members would be happy with. As you may recall, Peter Firminger (listsdad) recently informed all members that jobs posts would be dealt with on the site in the near future: "We are now looking at redesigning the WSG site. This will change the look, make the structure more semantically correct, change the way the resources section is presented and add a new "Jobs" section for advertising (standards related) positions vacant." So, as you can see, jobs will be posted to the website, but not to the list - as per the request of the majority of members. 3. Finally, the guidelines state quite clearly NOT to reply to a thread that has been closed. In fact, repeated offences are considered an unsubscribe offence: "The list administrators reserve the right to unsubscribe any member from the list. Reasons include: Repeatedly replying to threads that have been closed" Please, respect core members if they close a thread. They are not the enemy. They help Peter and I run the list, free of charge, trying to keep the list on focus, and generally all they get is abuse. If you have an issue, please do not post your comment to the list. It is incredibly disrespectful to the core member and just adds to unnecessary traffic. Instead, let Admin know about your concerns - offlist. So, finally, this thread is CLOSED!
