Why does IE/Win mess up the layout for that second page? Also, are there any Mac browsers that screw up the layout for either page? And does anyone think it was a mistake to use nested <fieldset> elements like that?

Mmm... popup ads on a test page! Most attractive - not.

Standards/quirks modes pairs render as follows on OSX 10.3.7:
Safari 1.2.4 - identical, except for additional space above first <h1> in standards.html
IE5.2.3 - both break, with what looks like additional padding on the fieldsets. Try browsercan to see exactly how.
