Does anyone remember a specific MacIE bug where colours default to lime green?
For I think the third time this *week*, someone has asked me to check a website "on a mac" without specifying which browser ... sigh ...
After having The Talk with them, we've established that it's an older version of Mac IE than mine, and the page has a problem where a colour defaults to lime green.
I can't track down anything specific in the page, or by googling, but I was just hoping someone remembers this specific bug. It's at the back of my mind. Something like "color:transparent" or "color:inherit" coming out lime green due to the browser's desperate attempt to interpret it as if it were a hex code "#TRANSP"?
Hmm, I've seen green on IE Mac many times, but that particular bug (colour defaulting to lime green) isn't known to me. All versions of IE 5 Mac I have do react correctly with both 'inherit' and 'transparent' as keywords. The latter, being an invalid value of 'color' is simply ignored (OS 9 and OS X).
Do you have a URL where such an eye catching bug can be enjoyed ?
Maybe the user has set the preferences to use lime green as a default ?
I remember good old NN4 doing that kind of weird things with 'inherit'.
