I did not see the problem you describe in XP_SP2 IE6.0.
Trivial pursuits: You may want to consider using relative font-sizes so that IE users will be able to zoom the fonts. I noticed also, you specified justified at one point-- hot-metal typographers avoid setting unserifed fonts justified as if it was a plague; and serif fonts when set justified for the Web are prone to white acne and pigs bristles(lakes and rivers).
