Presenter: Dey Alexander (Monash University)

Synopsis: Dey will present a summary of findings from recent usability testing involving 39 prospective students using 15 university websites.

Find out about the key problems that were highlighted through
usability testing: poor information architecture, poor content, poor
search results and/or search interface, a reliance on domain knowledge
about the higher education sector that many prospective students do
not have, and negative reactions to or difficulty using PDF documents.

Audience: This presentation will be of interest to those wanting to
know more about how usability testing can help identify design
problems and priorities, and will be of particular interest to people
responsible for the websites of higher education institutions.

TOPIC 2:
Usability for People with Disabilities and an Introduction to Practical Testing. Note this session will include assistive technology demonstrations.

Presenters:
Andrew Arch: Andrew is Manager of Online Accessiblity Consulting with Vision Australia (National Information and Library Service). Andrew is a memeber of W3C Web Accessibility Inititive Education and Outreach Working Group. Andrew provides web accessibility consulting and training servcices around Australia and internationally.

Brian Hardy: Brian is National Manager market development with Vision Australia (National Information and Library Service). Brian founded the Vision Australia web accessibility service in 1998 and he works closely with Andrew Arch and his team - advising and training in web accessibility around Australia.
