Go for this soloution but use image replacement (with a CSS Turn Off button).

That way if they're confuddled they'll lry turning CSS off and voila.

I personally use the method as it was taught. Why not use slices? easy enough to position in CSS

Hi all,

I am a beginner in design and I'm trying to put together my very first site. Everything is going relatively well, but I got stuck with the header.

It should look something like this:

I've looked at countless designs, searching for the right solution, and it struck me that most headers are actually one big image! I've looked at csszengarden designs, same thing there. While on one hand it makes for nice visual experience, for some reason I don't like this solution. Doesn't seem elegant. What if someone is loking at the site with images disabled and doesn't get anything of the header?

So my question is: what are the pros and cons of having a single image as a header, or is it better to divide the header into various divs and use background images with repeat-x?

My other question: if anyone was so kind as to suggest a good solution fo my header, I'd be really happy.

Regards,
Titanilla
