You can still add hacks for IE 6 and/or IE 7 but it's tricky.. If you need to send something to IE6 and nothing else: use the underscore attribute hack ( border:1px solid pink;) If you want to send something to IE7 AND IE6, use the attribute hack (*border:1px solid black;). When in quirks mode you get the worst of both worlds since IE7 does not behave the same as IE6 even though it's picking up the same declarations. I'd wager that's what lies behind the developers' mantra of "Conditional comments, conditional comments, conditiional comments"... Another reason to always use Strict mode if you can ;) From: "dstone" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2007 10:01:32 -0700 Subject: re: [WSG] what is semantic? Navii: Below is brief description of it. There is also an article in the new "Economist" by Tim Berners-Lee. ++++++++++ +++ The word semantic stands for the meaning of. The semantic of something is the meaning of something. The Semantic Web is a web that is able to describe things in a way that computers can understand. The Beatles was a popular band from Liverpool. John Lennon was a member of the Beatles. The record "Hey Jude" was recorded by the Beatles. Sentences like these can be understood by people. But how can they be understood by computers? Statements are built with syntax rules. The syntax of a language d efines the rules for building the language statements. But how can sy ntax become semantic? This is what the Semantic Web is all about . Describing things in a way that computers applications can understa nd. The Semantic Web is not about links between web pages. The Semantic Web describes the relationships between things (like A is a part of B and Y is a member of Z) and the properties of things (like size, weight, age, and price)++++++++++++++++++++ It uses RDF (tags) for describing information and resources on the we b. ---------------------------------------- From: Naveen Bh [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 23, 2007 10:06 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] bstandardsgroup.org Subject: [WSG] what is semantic?
