hi,the second one seems more strict to me. i think our microformats-philosophy is to make it as readable by bots as possible. IMHO: [span class="type"]Office[/span][span class="value"] +1.415.555.1212[/span] is simpler to parse than [span class="tel"][span class="type">Office[/span] +1.415.555.1212[/span]
