I tried your suggestion of overriding the default provider to that of Axis
Provider.

WSIFPluggableProviders.overrideDefaultProvider(
"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/",
new WSIFDynamicProvider_ApacheAxis());
It worked!!! Indeed, the Axis provider has much better support for doc
style invocations.
