Several of my colleagues use git-svn for daily migrations, as they prefer git, but the project happens to use svn. I'm a bit afraid you overestimate the complexity of working in both VCSs simultaneously for a while. > Subversion is easier to understand and use than git I agree. Subversion has stuff in your workdir, in your local .svn cache, and in the repo. Git has stuff in your workdir, on stage, in your local repo, and in the remote repo. That makes 4 places instead of 3. And Git's 4 are more loosely coupled than SVN's 3 are. This gives you flexibility, but comes with the cost of some additional complexity.
