TenTec OMNI VII not working.  I normally use HRD quite successfully but
another guy reported a problem so I checked it out.and indeed the OMNI isn't
working on direct serial comm.

Not sure where the extra 8b character is coming from.  Should be a 6-char
response but gets 7.

The frequency being returned is correct.
