Sounds like it's time to increase that array size by an order of magnitude.
400 audiodevices would hopefully last a while :-)

I made a small change which should do that.

demodulators. I am using Virtual Audio Cable, which creates several
different devices per "cable". 

Is the solution to just use a different PC, or can I do something to solve

The error message suggests that the must have a very large number of audio
devices -- more than 40, in fact.  can this be true?  Are you using a setup
that creates a large number of "pseudo-devices"?
