Hi David, I had some time today, and installed Mint 17.1 (Mate DE) on a new native partition.
All I did after install was the normal Update and Upgrade, then followed the instructions I sent Pino in his query. I did no get the missing package warning you described. The only explanation I can conclude is, after reviewing the source.list data you sent me off-line, apt-get is not, for some reason, using or updating your /etc/apt/sources.list correctly and pkgs, either by version or name, are not being found. Clearly Synaptic is using the Ubuntu (Trusty) repo's for its pkg query and installation. There are a number of things I could suggest, but it is really outside the scope of things here. Additionally, as we discussed, having obsolete repository lines (Saucy and others ) in your source list could be a contributing factor, but I've no way of test that condition locally. At this point, I really can't fix what does not appear to be broken in the mint.m4 macro. If you continue to have this issue ( on a new install ) or others find varying conditions where it appears, we can redressed this, but for now, I'll leave the configuration as it. 73's Greg, KI7MT On 04/14/2015 04:31 PM, David wrote: > yep it was python3-pip > > On 15/04/15 08:26, David wrote: >> Greg...i find synaptic the easy way for me......Mint 17.1 Rebecca with >> Cinn desktop... >> >> David >> On 15/04/15 08:21, KI7MT wrote: >>> Hi David, >>> >>> You shouldn't have to use synaptic. >>> >>> I need to look at that list, as python-pip should not be on it at all, >>> python3-pip should be. >>> >>> The other three should should be available via apt-get. >>> >>> What version of Mint are you using, I'm assuming 17.1 ?
