That's not correct, changeset (a.k.a. revision) numbers have no 
relationship with branches or tags. They are just a unique incrementing 
number applied to each change to the repository.

A changeset number is just a place holder for the state of the 
repository at some point in time, that is the whole repository. For 
example you could commit a change that had file deltas to every branch, 
it would still just be one changeset number.
