Error message? If so, what is it? If not, please start program from a
command-prompt terminal and check for an error message.
A wild guess: It sounds like it may not be finding the JPL ephemeris
file, JPLEPH. Since you're presumably building for yourself, perhaps
without having built a distribution package, this file may not have been
properly installed.
In my Ubuntu system, after a Debug build using jtsdk the file is found here:
~/jtsdk/wsjtx/1.6.0/1.6.0-r5602/install/Debug/share/wsjtx$
Of course, your problem might be something quite different. Did you try
running the program under gdb?
