Hi all,
Today I committed 8 additional *.wav files to the .../wsjtx_exp/samples
directory. These will be particularly useful for those learning to use
the modes recently added to WSJT-X, including WSPR, JT4, ISCAT-B, Fast
JT9, and JTMSK. Unfortunately, these files add 6 MB to the WSJT-X
Windows package, making it nearly 32 MB in size. Big enough, I fear, to
be a pain for those with older, slower internet connections.
We could make the sample files an optional separate download. Arguably
this would detract from the completeness of the package. The sample
files are needed for the tutorial(s) in the User Guide, including parts
yet to be written.
We might also consider offering a relatively lightweight "upgrade
package" containing only files that have changed since the previous
release. Often this would be just one file, wsjtx.exe, which (after
compression) might be only about 10 MB.
