By the way, with reference to your speculation yesterday that we might have inserted a fudge factor to account for delays — at present there are *no* fudge factors inserted in the dt-estimation process that I am aware of. I went on a crusade a while back to eliminate all empirical factors in the dt estimation process. At that time, I did some tests to estimate the variance of our estimates of dt and found that even at -24dB SNR our dt estimates are quite accurate, with rms uncertainties smaller than 0.01s.
