Hi Greg,

what rig do you use?
What do you have checked for the "WSJT-X" settings "Monitor off at 
startup" and "Monitor returns to last used frequency"?
What do you have set in the "Mode" buttons in WSJT-X "Settings->Radio"?
Do you recall if the rig was in CW or SSB mode when you saw the Rx 
offset on the waterfall?
