Hi all,
In the past several days I've once more had some time to devote to
WSJT-X, and I thought a brief progress report might be useful.
Until now the JT65 decoder in WSJT-X has been essentially HF oriented.
In particular, it has not included the following features that have been
present in WSJT for many years:
1. Optimized decoding in submodes B and C for signals with significant
amounts of Doppler spread.
2. Message averaging of successive transmissions, allowing decoding of
signals too weak to decode in a single transmission.
Both features are especially important for EME.
I have now implemented basic forms of both types of processing in WSJT-X
(e.g., SVN revision 6511). Not much testing has yet been done, and more
work is definitely needed on their user controls, etc. My list of "To
Do" tasks includes completing some of these missing steps. One
important goal is to make the user controls for these features
essentially like those already implemented for JT4.
Comments and suggestions will be welcome, especially if you can report
on any tests of the new capabilities.
