Sean - many thanks for that link - great reading. In fact, it did allow me to
get my WSJT-X working on the iMac, but not because of the 2-channel stuff; it
was already set to 2-channel. I changed it from 48000 to 44100 and the issue
went away.
Again, muchas gracias!

Hi Jim,
Incase you haven’t seen this article yet I thought you might find it helpful.
Details issues surrounding El Captain and Fldigi, WSJT-X and provides a
suggestion for a fix.

No matter how many different approaches I took with WSJT-X and FLDIGI on OS X,
the audio problem followed me. So, I tried another OS. I already had VMware
Fusion installed on the iMac, AND already had Ubuntu Linux 14.04.3 running
there, AND also had WSJT-X 1.6.0-rc1 previously installed. I moved my K3's
serial->USB cable and the Tascam USB cable to the Linux guest (virtually) and
fired up WSJT-X. Works great - made a JT65 and a JT9 QSO last night on 40
meters. That would not have been possible had I been using the OS X platform
natively.
The only downside is that my logging program is MacLoggerDX which runs on OS X
and I've been using JTbridge to automatically log my JT QSOs into MLDX. But I'm
in the process of writing a Python program to extract selected WSJT-X ADI
records, add a "my_rig" field, and put them into an OS X folder for MLDX
importing. So, until Apple gets their act together and fixes OS X, I can at
least operate the JT modes without a lot of loss of functionality.
