Version 1.7 could have been released many weeks ago if we had stopped
making enhancements and adding features.
As it is, we've made considerable progress on a number of new, mostly
VHF-oriented features -- including entirely new modes aimed at meteor
scatter and EME. Both have been tested sufficiently that we know they
are "winners". We need a bit more time for their feature list to
stabilize, convenience features to be polished, and execution speed to
be optimized. Then we can plan and execute one or more candidate
releases (-rc1, ...), fix any problems or bugs, and release Version 1.7.
How soon could this be? It's hard to say with any confidence. We're
all part-timers in this business, vacation time, summer travel, etc.,
may cause some delays.
Meanwhile, many are using what amounts to "compile-it-yourself alpha
releases", every day. We appreciate and depend on feedback from such
users to help us optimize features and squash bugs.
