WSJT-X is not always as stable as we would desire and crashes mid QSO do sometimes happen, in this case a quick restart is essential to avoid losing the contact so the DX call and grid are preserved across restarts. You can set an option to clear them after logging a QSO. Also you have the hot key F4 to clear them at any time.
