Thanks for your thought-provoking email with ideas for the WSJT-X user 
interface.  I'm delighted to have someone with experience in designing 
good user interfaces willing to devote some effort to making WSJT-X more 
user-friendly.

I don't immediately see the motivation for some of the proposed changes, 
but that doesn't necessarily mean I think they are bad ideas.
Some parts of the current main window arrangement go back to the 
earliest version of WSJT in 2001... and even before that, to the HSCW 
program "WinMSDSP 2000", by 9A4GL.

My inclination is to suggest going ahead with all of your proposals -- 
perhaps in a separate code branch or your own local version control 
system -- and then let us see and play with the result.

Let's see what others think.
