What version of Fedora are you running? I have had no issues building on
my system or with my COPR builds[1]. Unless you are trying to build the
very latest, you may be better off using my packages.
Even if you are, if you wanted to learn about RPM packaging it may solve
some of your problems. The nice thing about using packages is you document
all the tweaks you need to get it to build in the spec file so you don't
have to remember, nor do you have to depend on "make uninstall" doing
everything right since RPM will make sure all the correct files are removed
with "dnf erase ..."
