Hello All,

The method Richard stated below is the preferred build method, for several
reasons. Those testing the release candidate branch—which is what needs testing
at this point—should build the ^/wsjtx-1.8-rcX branch, not the ^/wsjtx branch.
The ^wsjtx branch can have all sorts of unstable, partially complete, and/or
non-functional code at any given time. The only people that should be building
from the development branch ^/wsjtx are the application developers, which 99.9%
of users are not part of.

While it is not a problem to use the svn switch command, facilities exist to
allow you to build the RC dev branch while maintaining your default build
options. All the while, leaving the ^/wsjtx to the developers. If this is far
too confusing, you should probably wait for the official RC build from the
development team.

To display wsjtx build options help menu:

help-wsjtx

To display the list option help screen:

wsjtx-list -h

To see the available branches:

wsjtx-list -a

To update available branch list:

wsjtx-list -u

Then, as Richard stated, to build the release candidate “dev” branch:

build-wsjtx -b dev -n wsjtx-1.8 -c release -t install

Note: the above is a dev branch “dev”, not the released GA/RC candidate branch.
If new fixes/features are added “ontop of” the RC1 branch, and the development
team askes for testing on this branch, that’s what you should be
building/testing.

When a new RC(x) is released to GA—after updating your lists—it will appear as
wsjtx-1.8.0-rc2

build-wsjtx -b gar -n wsjtx-1.8.0-rc2 -c release -t install

Note the “gar”, and full name of the release candidate “wsjtx-1.8.0-rc2” in the
command above.

Hi Ron

not sure if there is a more elegant way but I

wsjtx-list –u

build-wsjtx -b dev -n wsjtx-1.8 -c release -t install

This works for me.

Does anyone know the JTSDK commands to switch to the v1.8 branch?

The v1.8 branch ^/branches/wsjtx-1.8 which currently identifies as
v1.8.0-rc2 is where your focus should be as this is where fixes for issues
in the RC1 release candidate will be placed ready for the next release
candidate and eventually the general availability release (GA).

Thanks for that, Bill; I knew the wsjtx branch was no longer suitable
for use on air, but I've been away from using svn for long enough that
I forgot about how branching is done and where I should go look for
the right place to grab updates before official packages are released.
Guess I'm too used to Mercurial now (don't ask about git :D )

Hi Steve,

If you are using raw subversion commands then:

$ svn switch ^/branches/wsjtx-1.8

will swap your workspace to the v1.8 branch and:

$ svn sw ^/branches/wsjtx

to get back to the development trunk (branch).

For JTSDK users I believe this is automated and you can switch branches with a
canned command.
