But surely the sequence is receive report, send R and report. The sequence is
broken in my example.

If skipping the grid is intended to save 15 seconds then that fails because,
ahead of the 73s, the broken sequence includes both an R from him and an RRR
from me instead of just the RRR.

In my opinion, if someone wants to get creative then auto-sequence off is for
that. Meanwhile auto-sequence on should mean just that.

For DXpeditions, as it now is not efficient. Also, for DXers working
DXpeditions, it is not a matter of saving 15 seconds by omitting the grid but
instead consideration to the DX to promote a maximum rate.

This was done early on to make sure people followed the sequence - if someone
decided to get creative and skip a step, the software is smart enough to get
them back on track. Not sure why skipping the grid and saving 15 seconds is so
desired.

After calling CQ, if a respondent skips the grid and sends dB report, the
software does not send a R+dB report. Instead it sends a dB report.

An example:

I double-clicked on JA4DNC who had answered with -12 but I sent him -21 instead
R-21. This then caused a R+dB report to come back to me instead of 73.
