David, Laurie & Mike, Thanks for your replies. I understand the situation now and (at this point) plan to use the repeater solution. Laurie: JTAlertX is a nice app and I'm looking forward to your re-write with the new UDP features.

I'm already convinced. I would make the change if I could but the current compiler used for JTAlert only has simple UDP support, it doesn't allow for SO_REUSEPORT or SO_REUSEADDR flags and doesn't support UDP multicast. JTAlert is undergoing a ground-up rewrite (still some months away from release) using a modern compiler that allows for setting of SO_REUSEPORT and SO_REUSEADDR and also supports joining a multicast group. de Laurie VK3AMA (JTAlert author) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ wsjt-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ wsjt-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel
