There’s no way of knowing, anymore than if you had heard someone calling CQ on SSB or CW. > My suggestion is that an optional extra transmission is added to each > QSO with (abbreviated) details of rig, power level and antenna in > order to judge whether it was "good DX" or an easy catch. I can’t answer that definitively, but I’m sure the technical answer will have to do with how many data bits are available (which is extremely compressed already) versus how much data it would take to send that information. And if you have been reading this reflector long enough, you’ll know that you won’t get much support for adding yet another transmission to the sequence to give that info. The current mentality is to treat the whole ham radio universe as a contest, to be operated as quickly as possible. I’m sure some would love to make it a one transmission exchange with no acknowledgements even. No, I'm not kidding. Read the archives. They are all in a hurry for some reason. Slam, bam, thank you ma’am. By the way, you can, and SOME DO, add an extra transmission to do just what you mention. You add it with a free text message on TX5 after you send your normal TX5. You can add that macro in the settings menu on the Tx Macros tab. You can also just enter it in on the line and hit return and it will add what you typed to the list of macros. 13 characters only, I believe (counting spaces). Something like "10WDPLATTIC73”. By the way, using Tab 1 is easier than Tab 2, but some prefer the opposite.
