In the "For what it's worth..." department... ....
I installed WSJT-x 2.0.0-rc1 on my Windows 10 desktop this evening. Opened two instances of the program - main program on my Icom, 2nd instance on my Kenwood. Ran older version FT8 on both instances and made a few contacts. Icom on was 14.074 MHz. Kenwood was on 7.074 MHz. On the 2nd instance, I then changed the JT9 frequency (7.078) in the 2nd instance to FT8 in Settings and changed the frequency to 7.078 in the pull down menu. I also set "Always generate 77-bit messages" and "Decode only 77-bit messages" in the 2nd instance. The first instance was still on 14.074. I then decoded ZF1EJ on the 2nd instance running 2.0 on 7.078 and when I double-clicked on his callsign, the radio keyed, then second instance of the program closed. I was unable to reopen the 2nd instance. I got the "Another instance many be running try to remove stale lock file?" message when I tried restarting the 2nd instance. I turned the radio off and the only way to get the second instance to start again was to reboot the PC. After rebooting the PC, I did the exact same thing as I did before. But in the 2nd instance, 7.078 was still set to JT9 so I left that entry alone and added a new FT8 entry for both 14.078 and 7.078. I then put that instance on 7.078 using the pull-down menu and answered a CQ and it did not shut down. It worked properly. ZF1EJ later answered my CQ so I know it wasn't his call that broke it the first time. HI And in the "probably unrelated to WSJT-X 2.0" department... Later I worked Joe (K1JT) on 7.078 and when he answered my Text message in JTAlertX, the pop-up text box froze up and I had to close JTAlertX and reopen it on the main instance. I've used Text from JTAlertX hundreds of times and it's never done that before. One more thing... it seems I'm not decoding all the signals on 7.078 tonight. I'll see 5 strong signals on the waterfall and only three will decode. Or I see 3 and 1 will decode. There's a signal at 1450 Hz right now that I cannot decode with "Decode only 77-bit messages" checked or unchecked so not sure what's going on there. 73, Don AA5AU _______________________________________________ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel
