The signals decoded for my screen shot are artificial signals that I generated for the purpose. I made up the call OE1KFV. I thought we were discussing color highlighting.

I cannot reproduce the problem you describe.

See the attached screen shot.  OE1KFV is in the log, at JN88.  OE1KFV is 
identified as a new call, which is correct.

I don't know what your yellow color means?

Seems that the bug is still there, at least for nonstandard callsigns.
OE100KFV as well as OE100DMB are right now on 14.078 MHz calling CQ,
and both stations are highlighted as New DXCC:
