Hi all,

According to PSK Reporter statistics, more than 650 users are busy making QSOs with WSJT-C 2.0-RC3. This is good!

Nearly all of the early reports are related to one of two issues:

1. Some Windows users receive error messages related to downloading the ARRL's LoTW status file. Messages like "Too many redirects", or "SSL handshake failed".

These will be easy to fix. In the meantime, here's a work-around:

Download the OpenSSL installer for Windows from here:
https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html ,
specifically the "Win32 OpenSSL v1.0.2p Light" version. Note that this is the right version even if you are running 64-bit Windows. Download link is
https://slproweb.com/download/Win32OpenSSL_Light-1_0_2p.exe .

Run the downloaded installer using default options and accept the
option to install the libraries into the Windows system directory.

Alternatively, you can fetch the file manually from https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-user-activity.csv and put it into your WSJT-X log file directory ("Menu->File->Open log directory").

2. macOS users get an error message "Subprocess failed with exit code 2", caused by an attempt to write diagnostic information to file fort.81 in a write-protected directory.

You can work around the issue by starting the application from the command line rather than the application bundle. Do something like this from a command-prompt window:

cd /Applications/WSJT-X/Contents/MacOS
./wsjtx

You may have to install the application away from the /Applications directory as well, you can drag'n'drop it onto the desktop for example.

3. A few people have complained that color-highlighting does not work as expected. Most of these can be traced back to not having used the available configuration options.

Please note that the sense of the LotW highlighting has been changed such that highlighting is on for known LotW users. This is mainly to be consistent with other applications that do similar highlighting. You now can also turn the highlighting on and off as well as set the minimum number of days since last upload that characterizes a call as a LotW user. See the "Settings->Colors" panel for the controls. You also have "Menu->View->Color highlighting scheme" as an on-screen reminder.

A future release will allow changing the relative priorities of New call, New grid, New DXCC, etc.
