Even after a phased migration to 77 bit you’re going to see this question repeated. Many Hams are computer challenged and seldom read release notes. It would almost have been advisable to have coded a message at install time telling people to anticipate the symptom of being unable to decide legacy FT-8. It would need to be in a conspicuous place at install time or first start up.
